Don’t forget to watch the last episode of Veronica Mars tonight. This is what Al.com wrote:
It’s a mournful day for a niche TV crowd. OK, a cult crowd. “Veronica Mars” is no more. The smart CW dramedy starring blonde pixie Kristen Bell as a tough teenage sleuth with wisecracks and style to spare has been canceled after three seasons.
For weeks, rabid “Mars” devotees – ranging from college students with fan sites on Myspace, LiveJournal and Facebook, to academics in their 30s – buzzed about the show’s status.
Self-described “huge fan” Angela Hanigan, 31, said last week she would be “extremely crushed” but not surprised by the show’s demise.
“I don’t expect shows with brilliant writing and three-dimensional characters to stay on the air for very long,” the teacher from Fullerton said dryly in an e-mail. Hanigan has been glued to “Mars” since the very beginning, when the show created by Rob Thomas debuted on the UPN network. Tt moved to the CW with the merger of WB and UPN.
“I was hooked from the get-go. It’s part mystery-suspense, part drama, always fast, witty dialogue,” Hanigan said. “It stands out from most things on TV. Sassy blonde solves crime, what’s not to like?”
Apparently some, though, did find reason. Last week, the show drew slightly more than 1.8 million viewers, making it the least-watched non-repeat on the five broadcast networks.
The show’s two-hour finale is scheduled to air tonight at 7 p.m. Mostly filmed in San Diego, the show followed pretty, petite private investigator Veronica Mars (Bell) as she trash-talked adult authorities and adolescent naysayers alike while navigating the ups and downs (mostly downs) of high school and college, solving cases including her best friend’s murder and her own rape.
Show creator Thomas never wanted Veronica to ooze sweetness. He wanted writers to “write her like a porcupine,” he said in October. Veronica was just that: a pint-sized Perry Mason with the intellect of the “Gilmore Girls” gals and moxie of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”
“She’s an idol to all outcast and pessimistic girls,” said Canadian college graduate Jenny Olsen, 22, whose Facebook site praises the character. “She’s intelligent, is not afraid to be herself, knows what she wants out of life, and isn’t too polite to step on people to get there.”
While sluggish ratings cemented the show’s fate, fans had harbored hope “Mars” would return.
“In a way, I’m happy to have been able to watch three seasons of it. That said, I’d love to see it come back, even in the rumored `Veronica jumps ahead to the FBI’ scenario,” said Web content editor Kevin Quinn, 26.
“Its a high-quality show that not a lot of people latched onto, for whatever reason,” he said. “It was marketed as a teen/high school drama, but it’s really more than that.”
Kristen attended on the Chanel Cruise Show Presented by Karl Lagerfeld today. She looks stunning as always in a little black number with a fresh new glow. Kristen is a big Chanel fan, often sporting many of their threads on the red carpet. I have added 23 pictures from the event. I also replaced the Fanboys trailer caps with high quality versions. Enjoy!
In other news. I have deceided to leave my co-web position here at Kristen Bell Network. The decision isn’t easy and I have thought about it for a while. I haven’t made many updates because I have been so busy and I don’t like to ‘linger’ on staff if I’m not doing anything. I asure this has nothing to with me losing interest in Kristen or the unfortunate news of Veronica Mars‘ cancellation. It’s quite frankly my time is getting more and more limited in both online adventures and personal life. I still very muchly adore Miss Kristen to pieces. I first fell for her after her performances in Gracie’s Choice and Spartan well before Veronica Mars and although like most people my adoration kicked up after I became hooked on the show it wasn’t the only reason I was a Kristen Bell fan. So show being cancelled isn’t why I’m leaving and I really don’t want to give the impression that it is. I’ll support Kristen no matter if it’s through a site or not. Although I am leaving my duties as a co-web, you haven’t entirely gotten rid of me *muah ha ha*. I’ll be around the forum as well as I’ll be the updater when Mikaela is away on a holiday and maybe some other cameos here and there. Thank you once again to Mikaela and all the Kristen fans who welcomed me on staff. Tata for now!
Very sad news guys. Our beloved Veronica Mars is not on the 2007-2008 fall line up for the CW. Although they are still jerking us around a bit because their is still not one word from anyone at The CW on the cancellation but it’s pretty obvious unless some of the new shows (6 new series) doesn’t do well and they bring it back for a mid-season pickup, But I wouldn’t hold our breath. I for one am hugely upset with The CW network. I understand that if the show is getting poor ratings they have to ‘let it go’ but for a show that has run for 2 seasons they could atleast pay those visitors who have stuck by them the common courtesy of letting us know what is going on and if it’s officially axed or not.
Dawn Ostroff, President of Entertainment at The CW had this to say about the new shows.
“Our new shows have attitude and a sense of fun, and they’re going to define this network,” said Ostroff. “With that in mind, The CW is adding six new series to our schedule this fall. With established shows anchoring four nights and providing a launch pad for new programs, we will also have stability on our successful Thursday and Friday lineups. Shows that can be enjoyed by the whole family will air on Mondays and Sundays in the 8:00-9:00 hour, with the 7:00-8:00 hour on Sunday providing an innovative showcase for both viewers and advertisers.”
In other CW news, recently reported Kristen’s new voice gig for Josh Schwartz’s Gossip Girl will be airing after America’s Next Top Model at 9:00PM.
UPDATE:
Here is official word from creator Rob Thomas:
“No one has talked to me about a new, non-Veronica project. All my writer’s have been offered jobs elsewhere, and I believe they will now all accept these jobs. Very, very, very sad day around the VM offices.
I assume that anything Dawn would be talking about in the realm of a Rob-Kristen project would involve a new from-scratch pilot as they don’t have me in a deal, and they’ll lose Kristen in a couple of weeks.”

Kristen has been signed up for a new project that will be aired on the CW Network.
Kristen Bell of the recently axed Veronica Mars series won’t be without a job for very long. As Entertainment Weekly exclusively reported today, Bell will be featured on the CW’s upcoming hot new drama, Gossip Girl, as the voiceover narrator.
The Gossip Girl television series is based off of the best-selling teen book series of the same name by Cecily Von Ziegesar, which features the life of well-to-do Manhattan teens. From private schools to summers in the Hamptons to outrageously expensive shopping sprees, Gossip Girl gives us a glimpse into live of the Big Apple’s most happening teens. But it’s not just spending money and partying at NYC’s hottest clubs for these girls (and guys), there’s also loads of hookups, heartbreaks, and down-and-dirty cat fights.
CW hasn’t officially revealed where the show will fall in the schedule, but either way this show is sure to be a hit. It’s like Sex in the City for the younger set, although college students and even some adults will be tempted by the show’s fashionable allure. Gossip Girl will air this fall, and is rumored to be placed in the 9pm Wednesday slot following Top Model. Stay tuned for the latest coverage.
Veronica Mars just might get a chance to grow up after all. Here are some more information about if Veronica Mars is going to be renewed on the CW Network. This is what StarNewsOnline.com says:
The fan-favorite drama is nearing a fourth season renewal, thanks to a reworking of the formula featuring the titular petite private eye. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a presentation for the proposed revamped show was well received at the CW, giving a boost to the show’s chances.
If the new season gets off the ground, the show will have fast-forwarded to a few years in the future, when Veronica (Kristen Bell) is studying at the FBI Academy. The move is a smart one since Bell has the chops and real-life years under her belt to play older than a co-ed.
That would also free up Chris Lowell, who currently plays her pal/love interest Piz, to pursue his receptionist/beefcake duties over at ABC’s Private Practice, the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff starring Kate Walsh.
Although Mars is critically acclaimed and beloved by the viewers, those viewers aren’t the most plentiful when it comes to the ratings game. Hope for a continued life came in the form of creator Rob Thomas’ new concept as well as the cancellation of Gilmore Girls and 7th Heaven which will leave the CW with a little wiggle room for the fall.
Kristen came at #46 place on the ’2007 Hot 100 on Maxim.com’. This is what they say about her at Maxim.com:
46. Kristen Bell
Voted PETA’s World’s Sexiest Vegetarian last year, this Veronica Mars star has single-handedly saved the CW from becoming the worst network ever. Next she hits the big screen (with William Shatner) in Fanboys.
