Very sad news guys. Our beloved Veronica Mars is not on the 2007-2008 fall line up for the CW. Although they are still jerking us around a bit because their is still not one word from anyone at The CW on the cancellation but it’s pretty obvious unless some of the new shows (6 new series) doesn’t do well and they bring it back for a mid-season pickup, But I wouldn’t hold our breath. I for one am hugely upset with The CW network. I understand that if the show is getting poor ratings they have to ‘let it go’ but for a show that has run for 2 seasons they could atleast pay those visitors who have stuck by them the common courtesy of letting us know what is going on and if it’s officially axed or not.
Dawn Ostroff, President of Entertainment at The CW had this to say about the new shows.
“Our new shows have attitude and a sense of fun, and they’re going to define this network,” said Ostroff. “With that in mind, The CW is adding six new series to our schedule this fall. With established shows anchoring four nights and providing a launch pad for new programs, we will also have stability on our successful Thursday and Friday lineups. Shows that can be enjoyed by the whole family will air on Mondays and Sundays in the 8:00-9:00 hour, with the 7:00-8:00 hour on Sunday providing an innovative showcase for both viewers and advertisers.”
In other CW news, recently reported Kristen’s new voice gig for Josh Schwartz’s Gossip Girl will be airing after America’s Next Top Model at 9:00PM.
UPDATE:
Here is official word from creator Rob Thomas:
“No one has talked to me about a new, non-Veronica project. All my writer’s have been offered jobs elsewhere, and I believe they will now all accept these jobs. Very, very, very sad day around the VM offices.
I assume that anything Dawn would be talking about in the realm of a Rob-Kristen project would involve a new from-scratch pilot as they don’t have me in a deal, and they’ll lose Kristen in a couple of weeks.”
