Hot damn! Joe Adalian over at Variety is reporting that Ms. Kristen Bell (of kick-ass Veronica Mars fame, of course) will be taking her ass-whupping awesomeness over to Heroes this season. The nature of her character, named Elle, is shrouded in mystery, but apparently she has ties to Claire, H.R.G. and Peter, and she kicks off her multi-episode arc with a little criminal activity. Aw, Veronica would be proud… Zachary Quinto’s Sylar will be absent for a stretch mid-season while Quinto (pictured above at the wedding with Bell and fellow Hero Masi Oka) shoots the new Star Trek with JJ Abrams—perhaps Elle is a substitute minion of evil? Is Kristen Bell’s casting on Heroes the coolest news ever? |

If you are one of the heartbroken fans mourning the loss of “Veronica Mars,” the news is still grim. According to star Kristen Bell, there’s no sign of a reprieve in the foreseeable future. The sexy actress told press, “There is no future, unfortunately,” Bell said. “Everybody’s really, really sad to see it go, and we all just keep e-mailing each other. We’re just missing everyone. [But] she has been laid to rest [and] may she rest in peace.” Would Bell be interested in a movie deal? “There’s [rumored] talk of a movie one day. Maybe. Who knows? But we haven’t even discussed it.” Another factor would be how soon the project would get underway. “Depends on how well I age. But I’d go wherever [the writers] took me. I think that they’ve always been utterly brilliant.” You probably shouldn’t hold your breath waiting for a Veronica Mars movie. But keep your fingers crossed, as stranger things have happened in the entertainment industry (i.e. Spice Girls Reunion). |

Many are still sorely disappointed that the CW decided to pull Veronica Mars off the air. However, the network’s Entertainment President Dawn Ostroff has moved on, telling reporters during the TCA summer press tour that she does not regret canceling the teen drama series, which starred Kristen Bell as a skilled teen detective. “I can honestly sit here and say I can not look back and have any regrets [about canceling it],” Ostroff said. “I feel that we gave Veronica Mars every chance and as many of you here know, there was no stronger champion of that show than me. We gave it a better time slot to follow up every single year that it was on the air. And eventually, we just had to say how much longer do we go on without the show really catching on?” Ostroff also said that the network tried their best every year to come up with a way to attract more viewers. Unfortunately, they “just weren’t able to crack it.” Despite being a critics favorite, the series failed to secure a large enough viewership, often putting it on the verge of cancellation. After the season three finale aired in May, the network gave fans some glimmer of hope by saying that it would wait until June 15 to issue a final statement regarding the show’s fate. Fans organized a save-the-show campaign, sending thousands of Mars chocolate bars to Ostroff’s office. Nevertheless, the network decided to cancel the show anyway when the deadline came. Although creator Rob Thomas appreciates the fans’ efforts, he told Blogcritics.com before the show’s official cancellation that he felt the deadline was just the network’s way of deflecting the fact that they had been cancelled. He also said that the network did not offer him any new deal nor did they give him a solid opportunity to continue on. “The truth is [the network] wanted me to write an FBI pilot with no guarantee behind it of episodes,” Thomas told Blogcritics.com. “Meanwhile I’m being offered real money to run a show that is on the air backed up by a development deal, a deal that Warner Brothers [the W of The CW] is not offering. “And people within the business said that [CBS Corporation President and CEO] Les Moonves was not enthusiastic about putting a new Veronica Mars on the air. So it was asking me to turn down a lot for a very, very outside shot of getting Veronica Mars back on the air,” Thomas explained. |

Recently, the cast of Gossip Girl spoke to press about the upcoming series premiere and the tough issues these teens will tackle. Starring Blake Lively (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) and written by teen angst master, Josh Schwartz (The OC), Gossip Girl is the latest teen soap to hit the small screen. The show will debut with a bang. In the series premiere alone, Gossip Girl features underage drinking and date rape. When asked how he will respond to parents, Schwartz responded, “We take the message this show is sending incredibly seriously. These are flawed characters.” Backing the show is CW Entertainment President Dawn Ostroff who said, “We believe Gossip Girl can be a network defining series.” Gossip Girl is new to CW’s fall lineup along with Reaper, Life is Wild, and Aliens in America. The CW network also revealed their plans to incorporate a huge online community to go along with Gossip Girl. Fans will be able to shop and chat with each other during the run of the show. Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) voices Gossip Girl, a blogger who chronicles the lives of upper class teens at a private school mixed up in a world of sex, drugs, and alcohol. Will we ever see Bell on the show? “We never want to say never,” Schwartz answers. “But certainly not for a while.” Bell has a busy schedule, currently filming the movie Forgetting Sarah, starring Paul Rudd and Mila Kunis. Gossip Girl is based on the wildly popular book series by Cecily von Zeigesar. Besides Lively, the series also features Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley, and Taylor Momsen. It is executive produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (also of The OC.). Gossip Girl is not just about spoiled rich kids but will focus on relationships between parents, families, and friends. It premieres on the CW network Wednesday, September 27, at 9/8c |

All casting rumors for Lost seem to have been debunked almost as quickly as they spread. Last week, Isabelle reported on word that Veronica Mars’ Kristen Bell and Prison Break’s Peter Stormare were being considered for two new recurring roles on Lost. The Stormare rumor got squashed pretty quickly, and today TV Guide’s Ausiello is reporting that Kristen Bell won’t be joining the cast, either. The reason, he says, is because Bell didn’t want to relocate to Hawaii. Well, shucks. I adore Stormare and would love to see Bell get a gig that’ll give her a wider audience. |

ABC’s hit show Lost may only return in February 2008 but that doesn’t mean they will start shooting episodes later than usual. The show is currently casting for the roles of two new recurring characters that may end up to be regulars. One role is female and the other is male (more about those after the jump since it involves spoilers). Casting rumors are flying all over the Internet but two actors mentioned seem to be the most serious contenders: Prison Break’s Peter Stormare and Veronica Mars’ Kristen Bell. Spoilers after the jump! In his latest Ask Ausiello column, TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello reports that Kristen Bell has been approached to play the role of Charlotte. The character is described as followed in casting notices: late 20s, attractive in a naturalistic and athletic way, precocious, loquacious, and funny. Charlotte is also said to repress her emotions and a hard shell to crack. The character will be introduced in the second episode of Season 4. Bell seems to be fitting this character description and she would surely bring a new following to Lost since her Veronica Mars fans would surely check her out if she gets the role of Charlotte. If she gets the Lost role, it doesn’t mean that she’ll quit her Gossip Girl duties since she is narrating on that show; she could record her narration from Hawaii! As for Stormare, the Lost Spoilers blog reports that the ex-Prison Break actor admitted to a Swedish media that he was offered a role on the show and has yet to decide. It looks like the role is that of mathematician Russell who is said to have tremendous knowledge across various scientific fields per what casting notices reveal. It is also revealed that Russell is too direct and not very good at making friends. He is also interested in magic and mystery even if he is a science man at heart. Russell will be introduced in the premiere. Confirmation on who lands these two roles should be given near the end of the month since shooting of the new season starts around August 15. |
