As Aziz Ansari prepares to join the few, the proud, the notorious group of MTV Movie Awards hosts, the outside world has a couple of questions about the quirky star of “Human Giant.” That’s why Zac Efron and Kristen Bell are here for you, ready to clear up any confusion whatsoever about where he was born and how he saves lives (by dressing up as a pumpkin).
“Aziz was born in the snowy mountains of the Himalayas,” Kristen says of Aziz’s past in a new Movie Awards promo. “He used to put on his dark-blue overalls and just go sit in the snow.”
It’s rather hard to dispute Kristen given photographic evidence of Aziz in dark-blue overalls sitting joyfully by a tree. I can’t help but wonder more, though: How did Aziz stay so warm? Is he actually immune to the cold? Was he raised around the hills of Mount Everest or K2 … or both? Did he ever hang out with snow leopards?
I’m getting ahead of myself. Forgive me. Let’s stick to what else we know — that Aziz likes dressing up like a pumpkin.
“There was this Halloween once,” Zac explains, setting the scene. “Someone needed to step up and dress like a pumpkin, but no one wanted to except Aziz. He saved a lot of lives that day. And that’s why I’m glad he’s hosting the MTV Movie Awards.”
Could the funnyman also known as Raaaaaaaandy have a knack for saving lives? For all we know, NBC’s “Parks & Recreation” star is leading a double-life: future Movie Awards host by day, pumpkin superhero by night. And that’s not even including Aziz’s role in “Sex and the City 2.”
“I’m just so excited,” Aziz told MTV News about hosting on June 6 (at 9 p.m. ET/PT). “I have a movie coming out this summer called ‘Sex and the City 2.’ I play Samantha. This is a huge opportunity for me to get the word out. There was a lot of nervousness about, ‘Well, is Aziz going to do as good a job as Kim Cattrall?’ ‘Well, would Kim Cattrall get the job of hosting the MTV Movie Awards?’ Probably not. So I think there’s a win there.”
Zing! Not only has Aziz taken a jab at Kim, as recently as last month our future host slammed Justin Bieber in a Funny or Die sketch for stealing the song “Baby” from Raaaaaaaandy’s “Baby Baby.” The jury’s still out on Justin’s alleged thievery, but can we look forward to the two butting heads on June 6, or Aziz slamming other stars for stealing his shine? Yes, absolutely.
