Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell have joined the cast of Scream 4, which has already started shooting in Michigan and is slated for release next April. The USA Today broke the news yesterday and Dimension Films confirms that the True Blood star and Veronica Mars will join the franchise’s holdovers Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, as well as new characters played by Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, and Adam Brody in director Wes Craven’s new frightfest. But will the recently-announced additions play major roles, or will they be sacrificial lambs of the Drew Barrymore variety (which, in turn, was an homage to Janet Leigh’s demise in Psycho)? Kristen Bell will play a fierce stage mom in the upcoming independent dance comedy feature “Dance of the Mirlitons.” Story revolves around Bell’s character, who grooms her young, overweight ballerina daughter for stardom. “Kristen’s combination of comedic timing and authenticity will bring this character to the next level, and give this crossover appeal,” said the film’s producer Daniel Dubiecki. At present, a search is underway to discover the girl who will play Bell’s daughter. A veteran from the cult TV teen drama “Veronica Mars,” Bell has segued into a comfortable motion picture career, mostly playing in broad romantic comedies including “Couples Retreat,” “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “When in Rome.” Bell is really flexing her musical arms lately. She can be seen in the music video “Madder Red” by rock band Yeasayer. The video has been described as a moving tale between a girl and her pet blob monster. The Couples Retreat actress says she loves her job narrating the hit show Gossip Girl and has no intention to come out of hiding — despite pleas from fans. “A lot of fans do ask me and say I should be in the show other than just narrating,” says Kristen. “But I don’t know. Maybe it would spoil the magic. “Sometimes I threaten the producers by saying I’m going to go to a casting and get a part that way but I’m very proud to be the voice really. I’m not on set every day but everyone is so warm and friendly when I am so it’s a great job to do.” Bell — who’s engaged to comedian Dax Shepard — recently admitted being in love makes her nervous. “I think you can steer you own destiny,” she said last month. “If you’re putting positive energy out there, I think that’s going to come at you most times. “I think with love your gut tells you what to do – you don’t really control it. Kristen Bell doesn’t shy away from taking risks. The petite actress, 29, who is engaged to Dax Shepard, got her motorcycle license. “It was intense,” she tells me during Marshalls Unlock Your Shopportunity event to benefit Dress For Success held in NYC. She continues, “I took my test in the pouring rain of a Mercedes dealership parking lot, which I thought was the most ironic place to hold it, because if I hit something, I don’t just hit a tree – I hit someone’s Mercedes. I kept it on my Flip video, which I’ll have to cherish for the rest of my life. And I took it in the pouring rain, which was very hard.” What’s it like riding a motorcycle? “They’re hard to control,” she says. “I thought I would be a lot better at it than I was, but there is something about the whole concept of the freedom of the road that’s very inspiring. But I think for now, having experienced it, I might stick with my beach cruiser. It’s a little more controllable.” She finds motorcycling exhilarating. “Life is full of fun things to do that mess with your adrenaline like roller coasters or riding a motorcycle,” Kristen says. “Sometimes those things are fun to mix it up.” Still, she isn’t totally fearless. “I don’t trust myself enough to ride out into the street on my own,” she says. “That’s a big machine. I’m not going to join the Hell’s Angels.” Hm, what inspired her to get her motorcycle license? “I don’t know,” she says. “I felt like it was always something I wanted to do.” |

Engaged KRISTEN BELL and DAX SHEPARD don’t want to wait until they’re married before they start a family together – the couple is reportedly building a nursery in their Los Angeles home. Shepard proposed to the Heroes actress over the 2009 holiday season, after two years of dating. According to U.S. magazine OK!, the pair recently hired celebrity interior decorator Kari Whitman to redo their home and turn one bedroom into a nursery, ahead of the Hollywood wedding. When In Rome star Kristen Bell said her fiance Dax Shepard ‘nailed it’ when he picked her an engagement ring. Bell, 29, started dating Shepard, 35, in 2007 after splitting with fiance Kevin Mann. Shepard, who starred in When In Rome with Bell, proposed to the star with a 3-carat Neil Lane-designed diamond ring earlier this year. Talking about the ring, she said to In Touch: ‘He nailed it!’ She added: ‘I’m just excited. I’m happy and I’m trying to live in that moment. It’s kind of indescribable.’ |

Kristen Bell has designed her own shoe for charity. The 29-year-old actress created a pair of faux-leather gladiator booties in collaboration with the children at Los Angeles’ Shriners Hospitals for Children. Named “The Midge”, the shoes will be available on Kim Kardashian’s online shoe club ShoeDazzle in August. Kristen, who is best known for her starring role on US TV show Veronica Mars, is extremely proud of her design, and hopes people will love them as much as she does. “You can wear these anywhere,” Kristen told People magazine, “and hopefully they’ll be comfortable.” Every cent of sales of the footwear will go to Art of Elysium, a charity that brings actors and musicians into the lives of seriously ill children.
