The 1988 Winona Ryder dark comedy Heathers is being developed as a stage musical. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Race to Witch Mountain director Andy Fickman, who got his start in theater, has been developing the production with his Reefer Madness collaborator Kevin Murphy, who’s writing the lyrics and book, and Tony-nominated Legally Blonde composer Larry O’Keefe. Earlier this week, Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell took part in a reading, playing the lead role. Whether or not she would take the role on stage is said to depend on her schedule. The musical is expected to be mounted as a regional production in 2010, then head to Broadway if successful.

Here are some more information and updates about the Veronica Mars movie.
Since âVeronica Marsâ ended its run in 2007, fans of the much-loved teen-detective series have been waiting anxiously for the show to make its big return in the form of a movie. Creator Rob Thomas (no, not the guy from Matchbox 20) promised the showâs cult fanbase that one day, he would bring the feisty private investigator to the big screen
The showâs star, Kristen Bell, is also hoping the movie will finally come together. âI cannot give you an update, but I will tell you weâre trying to make it happen,â she told MTV News on the set of Thomasâ new project, âParty Down,â a comedy series airing on the Starz channel about aspiring actors/ cater waiters, for which Bell was filming a cameo. âWhen making a movie, there are a lot of different entities that have to be involved â mainly money.â

Okay all you Veronica Mars fans out there, let uys cross our fingers and hope they do this movie, here are some more movie updates.
Veronica Mars fans, if you pray, pray hard. And if you don’t, start, because the cult fave’s long-rumored movie version is about to enter the anxiety-producing phase known as do-or-die-time.
“I’m preparing the pitch now — literally now,” Mars’ main man, Rob Thomas, told me this morning. “I hope to go in and talk to [executive producer] Joel Silver and [Warner Bros.] in the next week or two to see if they’re interested.”
But first, Thomas has to iron out the endgame of the plot, which, as I first reported last fall, focuses on Veronica solving a crime in college rather than as an FBI agent. “I haven’t figured it out yet,” he says of the final act. “That’s what I’m working on now. It’s close. A few key details left to solve.”

Kristen will be making a special appearance in Rob Thomas new TV show Party Down, starring Ryan Hansen, etc.
“Veronica Mars” star Kristen Bell, most recently seen on TV in “Heroes,” is teaming up with her old boss again, at least briefly.
Partydown Rob Thomas, the creator of the CW’s late, lamented “Veronica Mars,” is one of the creators of “Party Down,” a pleasingly droll ensemble comedy that premieres on Starz March 20. The show is about a group of L.A. would-be writers and actors who work part-time as cater-waiters, and Bell will appear in the May 22 season finale of the show as the head of a rival catering firm.
According to a Starz press release, Bell will play “Uda Bengt, a former Party Down team member now running a rival team, Valhalla Catering, the best crew in town. Ruthlessly efficient, she tolerates nothing less than perfection from the highly imperfect Party Down crew. She carries her secret weapon in her back pocket, Party Down CEO Alan Duk’s number on speed dial, and thinks nothing of getting Ron [Ken Marino's character] fired if he gets in her way.”

What would a Veronica Mars movie be without the real Veronica Mars? That’s our Kristen ofcourse. Thank god she’s into it!
Kristen Bell has revealed that she is “really excited” about the proposed movie adaptation of Veronica Mars.
The actress, who recently appeared in Heroes, starred in the show as a student who moonlights as a private investigator from 2004 until 2007.
“I’m really excited about the prospect of a Veronica Mars movie because we’ve been talking about it for so long,” she told Fandango.
“If they write it, I’ll do it. Absolutely.”
Earlier this week, Mars creator Rob Thomas announced that a film is “close” to being completed and he hopes to pitch the idea to studios soon.

Would you like to see a Veronica Mars movie?
When it comes to Veronica Mars, I know fans have some pretty strong feelings about the possibility of their beloved TV show getting the big-screen treatment — but it looks like fans are going to have to get used to the idea. iF Magazine recently spoke with Mars creator, Rob Thomas and he told them that the unexpected scale-back of his current series Cupid has freed up plenty of time to get to work on the feature film version of the teen sleuth, and that it looks like a feature film will be gearing up for production.
For those of you who might have missed Veronica’s short run on TV, here is a little primer: Mars (as played by Kristen Bell) was a high school student/private investigator who each week would take on a different small town mystery. Once described as “a little bit Buffy, and a little bit Bogart”, Mars would solve crimes all the while dealing with the blow back from being abandoned by the popular crowd, and some serious personal issues. The show was beloved by fans, and even though it only lasted three seasons, it hasn’t stopped fans from being awfully protective of their blond P.I.

Kristen has been signed for a new movie, Couples Retreat. Also starring actors Vince Vaughn and Jason Bateman. I’m so excited about this, here are some more information I have found.
A comedy centered around four couples who settle into a tropical-island resort for a vacation. While one of the couples is there to work on the marriage, the others fail to realize that participation in the resort’s therapy sessions is not optional.
Kristen Bell, Kristin Davis and Malin Akerman are signing up for “Couples Retreat,” a Jon Favreau-scripted and Peter Billingsley-directed comedy for Universal.
The story revolves around four couples who go to a tropical island resort, with one couple working on their marriage and the others sucked into the resort’s couples therapy. Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau, Jason Bateman and Faizon Love are the men.
Bell is playing Bateman’s wife, Davis plays Favreau’s wife, and Akerman plays Vaughn’s.
Scott Stuber is producing.
The movie will shoot in Bora Bora and Los Angeles.
Bell, repped by CAA and Brookside Artists Management, toplines Disney’s romantic comedy “When in Rome” and is doing voice work for “Astroboy.” She continues to recur on NBC’s “Heroes.”
Davis, repped by WMA and Mosaic Media, is coming off of the “Sex and the City” movie, which grossed $408 million worldwide.
Akerman, repped by Endeavor and Sanders Armstrong Caserta Management, next appears in “Watchmen,” the adaptation of the Alan Moore-Dave Gibbons graphic novel. She also will appear in “The Proposal” with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.
