We’re currently all waiting news on the fate of Veronica Mars, and since Kristen has been out of the spotlight these past few weeks, we’re all eagerly awaiting May 1st – when new epsiodes of Veronica Mars begin airing.
Here is a little blurb (in no way official) from Salt Lake City Weekly.
Return: Oh, relax. This is one of the last times you’ll have to read about Veronica Mars here—ever. Inside TV-biz buzz says that our dear Veronica has already been canceled by The CW, and this Season 3 runoff will culminate in a two-hour series finale on May 22. Well, unless there’s a pressing Search for the Next Pussycat Doll reunion/chlamydia-screening special, then forget about closure. On the upside, this will free star Kristen Bell up for deservedly bigger and better things; she was too good for UPN and definitely above a leftovers network that would cast her aside for far-less-talented hoochies and skanks (Top Models, Pussycat Dolls, One Tree Hillers, take your pick). And, since you’re not watching Veronica Mars on TV, be sure and check out the DVD sets and send me all kinds of “Hey, why did they cancel this great show?†queries later this year, OK?
At this point the odds against Veronica Mars staying on air is so slim all of us our trying to come up with ways to show support for the show we all love.
Be sure to sign the petition 1, petition 2, e-mail some people who might be able to help, and write your ‘Save Veronica’ letters to:

This is a long shot as I feel we would need to take more drastic measures but the number one thing we can do is get people to watch the show! Read on for some ideas of saving the show,
Veronica Mars might be looking at a quick graduation from Hearst College.
The fate of the CW’s cult favorite remains uncertain, but if the show returns for a fourth season in the fall, it might find the young sleuth in a different setting.
Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas has come up with an idea to fast-forward a couple of years and have Mars studying at the FBIAcademy. (As a freshman at Hearst College, Kristen Bell’s title character has been taking criminology classes looking to do an internship at the FBI.)
Thomas is filming a trailer for an alternative fourth season, which will be submitted to the CW. The network’s executives ultimately will decide whether to pick up the series for another season and, if they do, whether to stick to the drama’s current plot line or go with the new version. If Mars goes to the FBI Academy next season, it will be a third backdrop for the character, who began her P.I. adventures while in high school.

Early we reported Kristen is going to be starring in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and filming it during the summer hiatus from Veronica Mars. It was also recently announced she also lined up another role, this time co-starring alongside William H. Macy in the film Antique, from Renji Philip.
Bell’s role will be Claire, a girl who befriends a homeless man played by Macy, and presumably learns some kind of life lessons from him. Anne Archer, Rachel Leigh Cook and Lolita Davidovich also have roles in the film.
Yay, A New film! Super cutie Kristen Bell has signed on to star in the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall which is written by How I Met Your Mother‘ s Jason Segel and directed by first timer Nick Stoller. I’m really excited by the project, it sounds like a cute role for Miss Bell! ;)
Heartbroken Peter (Segel), after a terrible break-up with his TV star girlfriend, super cutie Sarah Marshall (Bell) tries to get over the ordeal by taking a vacation in Hawaii. Unfortunately fate doesn’t look kindly on Peter as Sarah happens to be staying at the same exclusive resort, along with her new boyfriend.
I realize that many questions are being asked right now about the fate of our favorite show Veronica Mars. I have been reading a bit online and listening for any major news and so far this is what fans should know.
Someone posted a question on the TV Guide website for Michael Ausiello asking about the chances of a 4th season.
Any news on a fourth season of Veronica Mars?
Ausiello: I just e-emailed Mars’ main man Rob Thomas for an update, and here’s what he wrote back: “We’re very much on the fence for a fourth season. My amateur handicapping of our situation — 60/40 in our favor. We are shooting the finale as a season finale — not as a series finale. There will be no alternate. If they do try to get rid of us, we’re not going to make it easy for them.” I gotta tell ya, there are few things in life I enjoy more than a juicy Rob Thomas soundbite.
The last episode for a while aired this past tuesday in the US. The show is going on an 8 week hiatus, but isn’t cancelled.
The hiatus will begin on March 6th and continue for eight weeks. However, when Veronica Mars comes back, it “will come back with five stand-alone episodes.†Each of the five episodes will work separately and run without hiatus for five weeks.
Dawn Ostroff confirmed that the new stand-alone format for the final five episodes is not “an admission that the show is in a little more trouble†or that the network is “not happy with the numbers.†In fact, Ostroff repeatedly told reporters that the network has “been really happy with the quality†and that “the numbers have been better than they ever were in the history of the series. Ostroff went on to explain the reasoning for the stand-alone episodes, “it’s really just a way to experiment and see if we can make the show closed-ended so that people aren’t intimidated to come in. And it just is more accessible to viewers, and that’s really what’s motivating it.â€
