Just back from Australia on a promo tour for her comedy Couples Retreat, Kristen Bell stopped off in Beverly Hills to chat with us about her voice role in the animated film Astro Boy. For those unfamiliar with the popular Manga and the ’80′s TV show, Astro Boy, set in futuristic Metro City, is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist named Tenma (Nicolas Cage). Powered by positive “blue” energy, Astro Boy (Freddie Highmore) is endowed with super strength, x-ray vision, unbelievable speed and the ability to fly.
Embarking on a journey in search of acceptance, Astro Boy learns the joys and emotions of being human, and gains the strength to embrace his destiny. Ultimately learning his friends and family are in danger, Astro Boy marshals his awesome super powers and returns to Metro City in a valiant effort to save everything he cares about and to understand what it takes to be a hero.

Kristen Bell has been cast as the lead in Disney’s comedy “You Again,” to be helmed by Andy Fickman.
Actress will play a girl who’s horrified to find that her brother is marrying the very girl who made her life a living hell in high school.
Pic starts lensing in the summer. Dave Johnson and Moe Jelline penned the script.
“You Again” will be Fickman’s follow-up to “Race to Witch Mountain” and will be his third consecutive film for the Mouse House, following “Race” and “The Game Plan.”
Fickman is producing with Eric Tannenbaum and John J. Strauss through his Oops Doughnuts shingle, which he started with Betsy Sullenger, who will be a co-producer.
Disney has been keen on Bell since tapping her to star in Touchstone’s romantic comedy “When in Rome” alongside Josh Duhamel and Dax Shepard. It unspools in August.
Bell provides a regular voiceover on the CW’s “Gossip Girl” and was seen on NBC’s “Heroes.” Since last year’s “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” she’s also landed a co-starring role in the Universal comedy “Couple’s Retreat,” due out in October, and is the lead female voice in the animated pic “Astro Boy,” also out that month.
